As a university professor, researcher, published author, and clinical practitioner, I have frequently addressed groups interested in issues related to adoption, particularly transracial adoption. In this capacity I have provided workshops to groups of families, transracial adoptees (children through young adults), adoptive parents, teachers, counselors, clinical practitioners, and other organizations.

I present on a variety of different topic areas related to adoption including:

  • transracial adoption
  • talking about adoption with your adopted child, tween, teen
  • adoptee development though the lifespan
  • psychotherapeutic issues for the adoption triad
  • talking about race and culture with your transracially adopted child, tween, or teen parenting issues for adoptive parents
  • what your adopted children think about but may not say
  • searching for heritage, birth family, and personal history internationally: lessons, struggles, and clinical issues

The speaking engagements that I have done include:

  • day-long seminars for adoption triad
  • conference presentations at national and international conferences
